IWMC has become one of my favorite places in Durban. Part of the reason could be a memorable first visit.. I went in to buy a take-away coffee and after seeing a Coleman Banks book on Rumi, decided to sit down and have a read.

This is definitely one of my favorite things about IWMC. There’s a communal table in the centre of the store with an amazing collection of books you can read. Each time I’ve been I’ve seen more of my favorite books like the Artists Way, the Prophet by Khalil Gibran, What Makes Great Photography, etc.

The set-up of couches (with blankets) alongside the wall, and individual tables around the big communal table provides variety, and the chalkboard walls is full of quotes and artist drawings. The friendly waiters, great music and free wifi are the cherry on top.

The coffee shop invites you to put your feet up, and relax. Apart from being a great spot to read, I think it’s also a great place to write.

You can find IWMC at Mayfair On The Lake, Park Lane, Umhlanga or call on
021 701 9716.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm an Saturday 9 am till 2 pm.
