I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to blog about Antique Cafe considering it’s one of my favourite Durban coffee shops! I’m a sucker for outdoor venues and after randomly snapping photos of things I loved whilst there recently, thought to share. Oh better late than never right 🙂 The coffee shop is a converted house on Churchill Road, owned and managed by a lovely Italian couple. The location, set up and feel of this sets it apart for me, as true to its name, it follows an antique, quirky look throughout. From the inside leading to a beautiful outdoor garden seating area it oozes charm and personality.
There is complimentary flavored water on arrival, a mouth-watering menu, free wi-fi and friendly service (by the owner himself). I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had here, including breakfasts, snacks and of course dessert. The menu caters to breakfast, lunch and coffee and the cafe is renowned for their desserts. Be sure to try the chilli chocolate cake or bee sting cake – to die for. The drinks are as good, from smoothies to iced coffee (one of my favourites).
It’s the perfect spot to meet friends for a catch up chat and great treats. Or you could go alone with a great book and the birds for company 🙂
But wait there’s more. Leading from one side from inside the cafe is a vintage home furnishings store and to the other side a few vintage clothing stores. The clothing and trinkets are all gorgeous so be sure to visit if shopping for that special occasion. We usually take a walk around the stores after placing our food orders through, the waiters kindly let you know when food is ready.
You can find the Antique Cafe on 93 Churchill Road, opening hours are 8-30 am to 4pm.
